Drugs of Faith: Drugs of faith

Selfmadegod Records seems to be fans of Global Domination. They have sent us albums in the past and are now doing it again. It’s really fucken nice of them to hand over this piece about to be reviewed together with the XXX Maniak album “Harvesting the cunt nectar”. It would have been even nicer if they actually checked the site of ours and noticed we already covered (yes, if you click the orange thing above you’ll get right to the review. It’s magic) said album (sent to us from Red Candle Records. The version we got now is a re-issue, like it’s needed…) back in July, twothousand and fuckenfour! It’s not like I loved the disc to such an extent I’m going to do another review of it, but hey… At least one of the 2 cd’s sent to us will be of some use. And that one is Drugs of Faith.
High expectations? Well, the band consist of one ugly-as-fuck chick, a bearded dude (quite hot if I may say so) and someone who looks like an booknerd/student (staff-member Fishermane’s kinda guy). Their name is Drugs of Faith, which unfortunately points my thoughts into hardcore-territory, and fuck knows I hate hardcore so no, I can’t say my expectations are sky-rocketing for shit. Also, I think the cover is portraying Penis W. Bush with a syringe in his hand. It all screams hardcore. I just scream and feel sad…
But besides being sad for a bit, I’m happy to say my first impressions while looking at the promo-disc aren’t all that fucken far off my ass. Drugs of Faith (I’m having a very, very hard time not renaming them Penis of Faith, lemme tell you that) plays some (at times chick-grindish) hardcore. A genre that will never impress me, or you. Richard’s vocals are shit, the production is almost shittier, the songs are shit-shit and this complete package is moving me as much as a mountain-high pile of… you guessed it… penises.
Drugs of Faith is yet another band bound to never get a break and rightfully so. They offer absolutely nothing and why this is even released in the first place is beyond me. Tell me if you ever heard of a guy who told you he was about to go out and buy the new Drugs of Faith album. You can’t. If you claim you can, you are a liar. And you like male-genitalia.
I have heard much worse than what comes from these guys, hence the “high” score they will be given, but that doesn’t mean this is any good by a long stretch. I guess it’s a fantastic thing that this one is a MCD coz a full-length would just mean extended torture.
Oh, and from the site of theirs:
“OK, Selfmadegod is releasing our mini album on July 1. We’ve turned in the finished product, artwork and music, and so we’re just bouncing off the walls waiting for it to arrive in the mail, basically. “
I’m fucken bouncing off the walls as well, but hardly for the same reason.
